Back Pack Project
For the next few events, we are collecting school backpacks for orphans in Russia. We are going to make the backpacks extra special by attaching a luggage type tag to them. On the luggage tag, we are asking everyone to glue a picture of you or your child on one side (you can cut out just the face if the picture is too large for the tag). On the side used for writing an address, I will have someone write, "You are loved." in Russian (or if you have someone that can write this, you can complete it yourself.) You can purchase luggage tags at many places - Wal-Mart, K-mart, Walgreens, etc. There are many orphanages in the St. Petersburg area that send their children to regular schools with the "family children". It has been explained to me that this can be difficult for the children and they try very hard to fit it. This is just one small way to make them feel better.
Children ages 7 to 16 will receive the backpacks. Please purchase backpacks that are as light as possible, without any wheels, and ones that can be easily compressed for packing.
We will be collecting them at the summer party on July 28th and at Art Time on Aug. 9th. We may also collect them at another event, if one is planned (we are trying to plan a ladies' brunch). If you will not be at any of these events, you can mail them or drop them off:

Lone Sheep Ministries
This organization was started by LEEAF members after returning from a 10-day mission trip to Russia. Lone Sheep was founded to work with existing ministries to deliver bibles and teaching supplies to underserved groups. On May 3, 2007 the first bibles they shipped to Russia arrived!
